Most girls get their first period when they are around 12 (age 10-15 is ok). Every girl’s body has its own schedule. There isn’t one right age for a girl to get her period. - Tampon: A small tube made of absorbent material that absorb blood from inside the vagina. Some tampons come with an applicator. An applicator is a plastic or cardboard tube that guides the tampon into the vagina. Other tampons are inserted using a finger.
- Menstrual Cup: A menstrual cup is inserted into the vagina (like a tampon). Instead of absorbing blood, the cup catches it before it flows out of the vagina. Menstrual cups are made of flexible materials, like rubber or silicone.
