My first breast-pump: Medela Mini Electric

Product Overview

Type – Electronic Breast Pump

Medela Mini Electric is a single electric breast-pump.

This Mini Electric is a good step up if you need a pump for occasional use but find that using a manual breast pump is time-consuming and tiring. The Mini Electric is one of the smallest, portable, but also basic electric pumps in the Medela range for occasional use.

Compact & Portable

The motor in the Medela Mini Electric is located on top of the breast shield, which makes the pump very compact and easy to operate with one hand. It fits perfectly in my handbag & even my lunch box.

Main & Battery Operation

Medela Mini Electric can be used while plugged into mains or with using 2 AA battery. With battery, I can pump any where without needing to be close to electric plug. I can pump anyway without restriction because previously I tried pumped at home, office, parent’s house, hotels, surau and yes even toilet.

Suction strength

Adjustable suction control for mom’s personal comfort. The suction speed can be controlled with a dial at the side of the motor.

Another benefit of the motor unit located on top of the breastshield is that there are no tubes: expressed milk flows directly into the bottle. Parts that come into contact with breastmilk are BPA-free.

Minimum Parts

This Mini Electric breast-pump is made up of only five parts, so cleaning and assembly only takes a couple of minutes. If I stored the milk directly after pump, only breastshield, personalfit connector and valve need to be washed. This is very important as I usually pump in the office and I need things to be done as fast as possible.

Breast flange size:

24 mm standard size (other sizes are available but sold separately).

Medela Mini Electric is a good compact electric breast pump for mothers who occasionally express. Simple design but powerful enough to drain breast efficiently. It is easy to use and nicely fits in my handbag! Have used this for both my kids and it still works but I wanted double pump to save time. I pump on an average of 3-4times a day for 18months. It is a great solution for the working mum or anyone wanting to pump on the go. Value for money, easy to set up, clean and use.
