Steaming vegetables is a good and healthier cooking method because it helps retain nutrients, flavor, and texture of the vegetables.
Steamed vegetables recipe can be done using almost any leafy greens. Just pick your favourite types of vegetables. It is easy, fast and ready just with a simple sauce of fried garlic and light soy sauce.
Ingredients:
- Vegetables of your choice (eg. Ladyfinger, Broccoli, Pumpkin)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Seasoning:
- 1 teaspoon salt, up to taste
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce, to taste
Steps:
- Clean vegetables with vegetable liquid
- Cut vegetables to desired size.
- Arrange vegetables into a plate.
- Fill wok/ saucepan with about an inch of water, cover and bring it to a boil.
- Place plate on the rack. Cover and steam for about 10 – 15 minutes.
- While waiting for the vegetables to be cooked, heat a small saucepan to medium to high heat and add cooking oil.
- Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant and lightly brown, about 1 minute.
- When the vegetables is cooked, remove the plate from the wok and drain any remaining water off.
- Garnished with the vegetables with the fried minced garlic & drizzled with some light soy sauce.
