Bayview Beach Resort is located on the northwest beach of Penang Island. It is 20 minutes away from Georgetown and 45 minutes from the Penang International Airport.
The resort overlooks the tranquil and scenic bay Batu Ferringhi or ‘Foreigner’s Rock’. A tropical garden filled with slender palms is all that separates you from the long stretch of enticing white sand at Batu Ferringhi beach. Painted fishing boats ply the waters of the Straits of Malacca as they have done for centuries, creating a scenic backdrop for your Penang holiday.
We booked 6 standard rooms and spend 1st & 2nd day of 2018 Chinese New Year here. The lobby/ reception area is very spacious.
Around Lobby/ Reception Area
While my husband waiting is queuing for check-in, I walked around the big lobby area with the children. I am amazed at the spectacular view of the pool and the beach.
Our Standard Room
We booked 6 standard rooms. Once we stepped into the room, I was surprised with the spacious room and big bed. Usually, twin bed are single bed size but theirs looks like queen size. With two queen size bed combine together, I can sleep comfortably with 2 kids and my husband.
The room comes with a private balcony overlooking Penang’s lush and green hills. Panoramic views of Batu Ferringhi’s verdant hills giving you the sense of having arrived in a personal tropical paradise.
La Veranda Coffeehouse
Because it’s first day of Chinese New Year, most of the restaurant are closed. And because we wanted to enjoy to the fullest in this resort, we decided to have our dinner at La Veranda Coffeehouse. It is just next to the free-form swimming pool. It is a buffet dinner and the menu range from Chinese, Malay, Indian, Japanese, and Western cuisine. Even my 2years old daughter and parents enjoy the food. You can choose the indoor seating or outdoor seating (just next to the pool).
When it comes to swimming pools, we are spoiled for choices. There are few types of pool:-
- Main pool – for bigger kids & adults. Or just spend lounging by the water with a cocktail in hand.
- Children pool – separated into two to cater different height.
- Wading pool – only a few inches deep, it cater to the smallest children to play.
- Slides pool – near wading pool & two slides to cater kids with different height
While walking from the swimming pool to the beach, we enjoy the green grass and tress. When we are approaching, we can see the sand and the sea. There are also few people riding horses at the beach with a fee. Because my kids are too young, we didn’t let them try. We just walked around and and then play kicking the water. The sand at this beach is quite rough and my girls refuse to walk without shoes in the beginning. City girl! Then, the like it so much.
We took some time to find this kids playland as there is no signboard as to where is the location. Once enter, we have to remove shoes and walk down the stairs. They is a staff on duty monitoring this playland. It is separated into two – the one on the left is free and for smaller kids and the one on the right is for older kids (>5years old if not mistaken) and there is fee. So, I just both my kids play at the free playland. My 5years old girl learns how to play congkok here. This place is quite clean & hygiene.
